Excellent wines are pressed in Burgenland, which perfectly accompany the cuisine at the AVITA Resort. In addition to well-known names of the domestic wine scene, you will also find young, up-and-coming winemakers, who approach the development of their wines with great commitment and passion, in our wine list. The selection includes the best drops of Burgenland and excellent Austrian wines.
Burgenland wines - unique variety and quality
The hot continental Pannonian climate of southern Burgenland produces both excellent red and white wines, especially the leading varieties Blaufränkisch and Welschriesling. The red wines produced in the easternmost province of Austria are considered the most full-bodied representatives. While east of Lake Neusiedl it is mainly the Blaue Zweigelt as well as Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent that thrive, the Seewinkel is one of the few major sweet wine strongholds in the world. The high humidity due to the numerous "zicklacken" promotes the formation of noble rot, which favors great berry and dry berry selections. The result is particularly high quality Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Scheurebe and Traminer. Complex white wines spring, for example, from the eastern slope of the Leithagebirge with its limestone and slate soils.
Depending on the soil conditions of the respective region, Blaufränkisch from Burgenland has different qualities. Varieties with particular fruit depth and length grow on the heavier loamy soils of Mittelburgenland and also north of the Rosalia Mountains. In the far south, the Eisenberg, with its special soil and a touch of Styrian freshness in the climate, offers Blaufränkisch the best conditions for red wines of the finest minerality and incomparable elegance.
Burgenland's wine culture is particularly characterized by the pioneering spirit of its winegrowers. Thus, in recent years, wines made from international grape varieties and cuvées have also achieved the highest recognition. Since the first origin-typical wine, the Mittelburgenland DAC (with the 2005 vintage), the Leithaberg DAC and the Eisenberg DAC have also been newly established to date. The introduction of the Neusiedlersee DAC in March 2012 closes the circle of the Burgenland DAC family.
Our Uhudler
a specialty from southern Burgenland
In southern Burgenland, a wine matures that can only be found here and nowhere else in Austria: the Uhudler. In appearance it resembles a light red wine or rosé, its intense bouquet is reminiscent of wild strawberries or black currants. Uhudler is a direct carrier wine and comes from a vine that was introduced from America around 1860 and was resistant to the phylloxera plague of the time. From the 1930s, however, direct carrier wines were banned, so that Uhudler may only be officially produced and sold again since 1992. Taste the unique wine variety of Burgenland, from full-bodied red wines to light white wines to the berry Uhudler – a specialty of southern Burgenland. The AVITA service team is always on hand to recommend the right drop to go with your dish.

Smoking in a non-smoking hotel?
Yes - but with style.
At AVITA Resort, the well-being and needs of all our guests come first. Both non-smokers and smokers are considered. A separate smoking lounge was therefore created in the immediate vicinity of the hotel bar. Smokers will feel at home in the stylish cigar lounge, while non-smokers will enjoy the smoke-free hotel, including the lobby and bar.
Smokers do not have to do without their cigar, cigarette & Co. in our basically smoke-free hotel and can indulge in tobacco enjoyment without a guilty conscience. The 30 m² smoking lounge convinces with a noble design and the casual atmosphere of a classic smokers lounge. Furnished with comfortable leather armchairs and the latest ventilation technology, this new retreat offers a magnificent view of the hotel garden and is the perfect place to enjoy tobacco in style. Inviting seating groups and generous lounge chairs offer an exclusive ambience in which to linger convivially. Enjoy the scent of real leather and the view of the large garden in an authentic club atmosphere in our smoking lounge.
