The Uhudler sauna

A one-of-a-kind sauna in the AVITA Resort

The Uhudler sauna – a declaration of love for the speciality from South Burgenland. Encounter a piece of Burgenland cultural history in the Eden Sauna Garden. Two sauna cabins are dedicated to the sparkling wine variety from South Burgenland: the Uhudler arbour sauna and the Uhudler dome sauna.

The outdoor area of the two saunas is inspired by a typically South Burgenland wine cellar.

An homage to Burgenland

In the Uhudler sauna, the finest sauna enjoyment "under the arbour" awaits you. In the Uhudler dome sauna, you are practically sitting directly in the wine cellar – decorative wine barrels included.

In terms of the temperature and humidity, both saunas are a Finnish sauna experience. At 90-100°C and 10% air humidity, you will really sweat. Your cardiovascular system will be boosted and complexion refined.

And the Uhudler? Don't worry: we don't pour Uhudler out!

With different rituals revolving around the Uhudler, you will experience the South Burgenland unique product in a different way. Be it as a refreshing finish after an infusion with fragrant grapeseed oil, as a grape marc or in the form of an Uhudler spritzer as a cosy end in the sauna bar..

Important information about the Uhudler

In South Burgenland, one wine grows that is only found here and nowhere else in Austria: the Uhudler. No other wine is so deeply rooted in South Burgenland as the Uhudler. Impressive names such as Ripatella, Delaware, Concord and Elvira and unrefined varieties, so-called direct carriers, which have been at home here for over 100 years. And the wine also pressed back then got the name Uhudler from the wives of the farmers because after drinking too much, people's eyes were like those of an owl, or "Uhu" as called in German.

The Uhudler is a purely natural product. It loves natural conditions and as a direct carrier, is extremely resistant against phylloxera and fungal diseases. That's why no chemical plant protection is necessary. The colour varies from a pale straw-coloured to bright yellow with white Uhudler. From the blue grapes, the colour palette can produce a tender pink, bright cherry red to  brick red. And with each opening of an Uhudler, you bring the characteristics of the region into the wine glass. In terms of scent, the Uhudler from South Burgenland has a distinct fruit hint of wild strawberries, bright berries and a breath-taking fruitiness.

From the Uhudler grapes, however, not only are wines pressed, but also other products such as fruit juices, mild vinegars, the finest jams, pralines, chocolates, sausages, cheeses, etc. are produced.
