Gold for AVITA apprentice Matthias Hager at the Tourism National Championships 2018
The best apprentices in the Austrian tourism industry put their skills to the test last weekend at the National Championships in Obertrum (Salzburg). From 18 to 20 April, they cooked, laid tables, mixed and served. In the process, AVITA apprentice Matthias Hager convinced the professional jury with his outstanding performance in the "Service" area and obtained the gold medal in this category – Burgenland's only gold medal during these National Championships.
"We are all very proud of our protégé's success! I would also like to thank my employees who have supported Matthias along the way with their personal commitment and professional knowledge," tells Hotel Manager Peter Prisching of his delight.
The employees are of central importance in the AVITA philosophy. They are the ones that fill the resort with life, contribute significantly to the company's success and live the AVITA values - respect, confidence, regional warmth, safety, honest, reliability, personal responsibility and will - both inside and out.
Under the motto "Work where others spend their holidays!", the AVITA Resort****Superior increasingly puts its trust in young people that want to learn a tourism profession in their hotel. Highly-qualified employees that view their job as their calling and complete their training with commitment and heart are ultimately the key to success for every tourist business.
A shining example of this is apprentice Matthias Hager from the neighbouring village of Oberschützen. The now 20-year-old started his apprenticeship as a restaurateur immediately after completing his Matura at the Wimmer Gymnasium in Oberschützen and used the chance to gain a foothold in the nearby popular tourist destination with his friendly way of communication. It was not long until he received his first award with 2nd place at the Regional Championships for Tourism Businesses 2017 and with gold at the National Championships in 2018, he reached the provisional peak of his young career.
Apprentice Matthias Hager: "What I especially like here is that I am fully incorporated into the team and right from the start, was allowed to work directly with the guests. The everyday working life is diverse and training at this high level opens many doors for me. It is nice that we all stick together and that the spirit within the team remains very high even in challenging situations."
From the currently almost 140 employees at the AVITA Resort****Superior, approximately 90% come directly from the region. This is unusual today and results from the clear commitment to the region. Hotel Spokesman MMag. Berthold Benedek: "Finding employees like these requires a clear strategy and objective, a lot of intuition and even more patience. But it is exactly this honestly lived, Burgenland sincerity that the guest senses, feels and honours and makes them want to come back."
In addition to the exclusive working environment, numerous employees benefits such as free thermal spa and sauna entry including accompanying person, free use of the state-of-the-art fitness centre, daily employee meals at very favourable special conditions as well as numerous discounts make the AVITA Resort****Superior a special employer. The AVITA Resort is therefore a prime example of a regional leading company that has been setting touristic and economic impulses for over 20 years.
